First Council Meeting Kicks Off for Global Climate-Carbon Neutrality Partnership
On July 21, 2022, the first board meeting of the Joint Action on Climate Change and Carbon Neutrality was held at Tsinghua University. Eleven initiating governing units of the Joint Action, including Tsinghua University, Hitachi, Toyota, Mitsubishi, BHP, Rio Tinto, Volkswagen, Microsoft, Harima Ishikawajima, Daikin, and Apple, participated in the meeting. He Kebin said that the dual-carbon issue is a global challenge that needs to be tackled by the whole world, and it is of great significance for the development of the dual-carbon cause in China and even the whole world for universities, research institutions and multinational enterprises to work closely together in the joint action around scientific and technological innovation. He emphasized that there are challenging issues at the device level, the technical equipment level, the large-scale engineering level, the technology system level, and the governance system level, including carbon finance, and that many of these tasks require joint interaction between universities and enterprises in order to solve them better.
