AWEX/OWIN MISSION TO CHINA: TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FOR A BETTER FUTURE

From 12th to 15th April, 2016, Coway received an OWIN (Open Worldwide Innovation Network) mission from Belgium. AWEX (Wallonia Export-Investment Agency) acted as the coordinator in Belgium while Coway the coordinator in China, in order help Belgian technology holders to identify suitable partners in China.

This mission is a small yet highly customized one, consisting of Prof. Jean-LUC Bozet (ball bearing industry) from University of Liege and Mr. Michel Hemberg from Lisam Systems (EH&S compliance software). Other delegates include Amaëlle Haulet, Executive Director of OWIN and Ines Jurisic, Business Development Manager of AWEX.

With Coway’s help, Prof. Bozet has made connections with Research Institute of Bearing Technology in Shanghai and other Chinese bearing companies in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. The meetings, to quote Prof. Bozet’s words, were rather “instructive” for guiding his entrance into China’s market. Prof. Bozet will further explore cooperation opportunities with these companies.

Headquartered in Belgium, Lisam Systems is a global provider of Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) compliance management software solutions and services, operating from offices worldwide. Lisam plans to open a joint venture in China. The project will be launched very soon.

In addition to business meetings, Coway organized field visits to Tsinghua University, Tsinghua X-Lab and TechCode, as well as reception dinner with Emmanuelle Dienga, the Economic, Commercial and Investment Counsellor, Embassy of Belgium, Trade Commission.

OWIN was officially launched in August, 2013 by Texas A&M System Technology Commercialization, AWEX and Coway. OWIN’s mission is to “Explore, Create and Connect Win-Win Opportunities Worldwide”. It encourages a global culture of innovation and entrepreneurship by facilitating the transfer of technologies and entrepreneurial deals between companies in each other’s markets.

AWEX is the economic development agency in charge of promoting foreign trade and attracting foreign investment in Wallonia. The agency has a worldwide network of 105 Trade and Investment counsellors, including 2 in India.

The Texas A&M System Technology Commercialization is Industry's Connection to the A&M System. The TTC provides the link between the laboratories where innovative new technologies are being developed and industry partners that will bring them to fruition as a product.

This mission in April, 2016 will serve as a catalyst to facilitate international technology transfer and a prelude to future cooperation between Chinese and Belgian enterprises.

OWIN will continue to organize missions of this kind. Should you are keen to joining the mission and if you're also interested in the Chinese or European market, please check OWIN's website at: http://openiwin.com/
